Rents going up
There have been several articles in the local and national media over the last few weeks predicting rents are going to go up dramatically over the next couple of years. If it comes true, and the indicators are there that it is already starting, rising rents is what will solve our housing crisis. If it costs more to rent than to buy, it is better to buy. If rents are rising, more investors will buy rentals. This is a double arrow pointing to more buyers. If there are more buyers, simple economics tells us prices will rise. If prices rise, less people will walk away from their homes. Nobody likes to pay more rent, but if that is what it takes to solve the housing crisis, I am all for it.
